Robotask Manage Service Task folder

Post by Mucibert »

Hi
there is my setup.
Windows server 2008 r2 x64 robotask installed as service.
i use the application mode windows to create and configure all my task. i go in service mode window to enter my user credential to run service mode and i entered it again on the properties service page under server manager.
everything is fine when i reboot the service starts automatically and everything works really fine.
there is my question when my teammate log into the server with is own admin account and open robotask then modify the task folder settings to see the tasks from the service mode. it ask to restart so he did. but in the root folder there is no task.
and if he does a log off his settings return to default task folder.
can you help me
thanks

Windows Vista/7/2008 prohibits the interaction of services in your user session.
In order to access main window of RoboTask service please start the "Interactive service detection" service.
Next you can open separate system session with all interactive services.

It is in manual of RoboTask
Also read related chapters.

RoboTask Service and RoboTask application have different task folders by default. It has been done in order to separate executing of service and application.
RoboTask service an be only one instance at computer
RoboTask application can be running at each user session of your server simultaneously. (e.g RDC sessions)

In application mode RoboTask puts own tasks into user profile. This, each user have own set of tasks by default.
For Win2008R2 default tasks folder for application mode is:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\RoboTask\Tasks

Also read the chapter of online help.

ok this is not a problem with the "interactive service detection"
I understand everything about this service mode and it's fine with me!
my problem is between my session and the one of my co-worker.
I can edit my task without going to this "interactive service detection" by changing my default task folder to the one of the service application.
but my co-worker did this and can't make it works fine.
can you tell me if there is a difference between Personal licence and Business licence?
because we have a personal licence i think our purchasing department didn't bought the good one.

If you edit service tasks from outside of service you MUST do the following:
- stop service before editing of tasks
- edit tasks
- start service again after editing

If you simply edit the tasks (without stopping and restarting service) it have no effect for service, because RoboTask keeps all tasks in memory at working.

RoboTaks saves your global settings when you shutdown RoboTask (menu Task -> Exit)
In other words: you must restart RoboTask to get the settings to take effect

ok thanks we finally made it.
you cannot use the "X" Button at top right corner to close robotask application window. it don't save the settings. because we have the checkbox close as minimize.
you have to click on the menu and -> Exit like you said after this robotask restart with the settings and works fine.
thanks for your patience oleg.

"Close as minimize" function is turned ON by default.
In this case you should use menu Task -> Exit in order to close RoboTask.

You can turn OFF "Close as minimise" mode if you want:
Open RoboTask settings (menu Options -> Settings) and uncheck the checkbox "Close as Minimize"
