Can anyone help me with this one. Once in a while I am running a task and I need to cease execution mid way. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

There is big red button on toolbar for this purpose - "Stop task". Just select the task and click on this button. If the task is executing some "long-play" step you can click on this button again and you will kill the task.
