ftp synchronization bandwidth

Hi all,im setting up an backup webserver and wanting to take backups of the websites nightly. I have noticed it takes awhile to ftp synchronize through alot of sites. Thats ok but im wondering how does it sync? as im concerned about bandwidth, when it does the compare does it download the file and determine to overide or does it just get ftp information and act based on that if it does not match?thanks Tim

You can read about synchronization algorithm in help file in the topic "FTP Syncronization". This action don't check file contents. It work only with file name and file's time.
When you try to synchronize large folders this take some time, because the action requires some time in order to collect the list of files on your FTP.
